4 tips that helped me produce my highest grossing year so far

I think all of us are trying to reach our personal “peaks” so here are four critical things I did that helped me. It’s not a complete list, but these are the “big” things I can confidently say I wouldn’t have made my highest grossing year so far without.

#1: Give yourself space to think

Unless you’re a helicopter, takeoff and landing requires runway.

Whether you’re working on launching something new or pivoting your focus, you’ll want the space. This could mean you overwork for a finite period of time or cut your expenses for a few months — I did both, but don’t underestimate giving yourself the space to think, experiment, and explore. Pressure is great to work under, not to die beneath.

#2: Say no first

People talk about nicheing down but not what it actually means in practice. In practice, it means saying no to money, but claiming what you do and don’t do is a powerful way to stake your expertise. Get ahead of it.

#3: Simply your social media

If you’re a business of one and selling services that you yourself conduct, double down on You. If you have more people working with you in the future, then by all means add a business account. Until then, keep it simple silly.

#4: Practice radical self-acceptance

When attempting to “be more productive” and “change your habits,” it must come from a place of curiosity, not shame. It wasn’t until I radically accepted the way I work that I eased myself into working more productively. Everything’s easier when you’re on your own side.

What’s the common thread? Make it easy on yourself.

It’s okay to let things be easy sometimes. That’s often how we can begin doing our best work.
